HaF Studio premises are located in a ground floor of a house behind the National theatre, near the Národní třída metro
station and Národní třída and Národní divadlo tram stations. Open from Monday to Friday, it offers diverse activities
for children and adults in following sections:
Visual Art s, Music and Theatre. We also offer combined classes.
Every morning of the week, we house a HaF prep school for Czech and foreign children aged 2-6.
HaF Studio organizes a number of art courses for children from the age of two, for young people and adults. We also
offer several courses in English for those students who do not have command of the Czech language. We can also lease our premises
for your own activities. For more information about us, please, check our Program 2012/2013. I hope you will find some of

History of the HaF Studio
HaF is the first privately owned art school providing leisure time activities (not only) for children. Based on the principle
of „learning through play” (HaF being the abbreviation for „playing and imagination” in Czech), it was founded in
1990 by the organist Hana Francova and a group of theatre and visual artists.
Our work, in all the sections of HaF Studio, aims at an integral development of children’s personality, deepening of their
sensibility and good taste and apprehension of aesthetic values.
Visual arts studio offers following classes: visual arts workshops for preschool and elementary school children, creative workshops for children aged 5-6 and 6-12, comics drawing for children aged 5-6 and 6-12, relaxation visual arts techniques, figure drawing, oil painting, preparatory classes for Academies of Art, fashion design, book graphic design, pensioners’ art club and more.
The visual art classes are taught in Czech and English. Even a student with a very basic command of these languages will be
able to fully profit from these classes.
Children who do not speak Czech can attend the classes according to their age. Our teachers will integrate them to the class
in the most appropriate way and your children will thus have the opportunity to learn the basics of the Czech language.
School of music: flute, guitar, piano, bass guitar, electric guitar, transverse flute, singing.
We offer both private and
group classes.
Group classes for children aged 3 to 6 and for those aged 6 to 12.
Music classes are taught in Czech and English. Even a student with a very basic command of these languages will be able to
fully profit from these classes.

Dramatic art studio: creative writing, dramatic art classes, dance classes for children, „little theatre“ for children aged 6 to 12, drama workshops for children aged 4 to 6 and 6 to 12, film and television acting for children and for adults, preparatory classes for Academies of Dramatic Arts and more.

English afternoon – Wednesday 15:00-17:00
For Czech, bilingual and native-English speaking kids aged 6-12.
Workshop, art activities, games and theatre conducted in English only.
Program for both kids fluent in English and non-English speaking kids.
The aim is to improve the kid’s English communication skills and integrate Czech and foreign kids into one bilingual group.
At the same time, the program should help to develop children’s expressive ability.

Part of the program consists of an drama workshop. It includes theatre and games, which develop children’s confidence and speaking skills. The main target is to integrate the group, which should consist of both Czech and foreign children.
Children’s theatre – Wednesday 17:30-19:00: a real theatre for children and young people aged 10 to 20, destined for those who are genuinely interested in theatre. Members of the children’s theatre work in all fields of dramatic art and not only in those highly artistic such as acting, directing, authorial creativity, music, stage management or costume design but also in professions such as make-up artist, theatre lighting designer, prompter etc. Our productions were staged i.a. in the famous Prague theatre Malostranská Beseda. The objective of this project is to help very young children to find out, as soon as possible, their area of interest and to provide sound leisure time activities for young people reaching the most difficult years of their life so as to prepare them for all the challenges of adulthood. Everybody can become member of our theatre, the only condition being his or her reliability, which is a necessary condition for our work and at the same time an important part of our educational program. Our work, in all the sections of HaF Studio, aims at an integral development of children’s personality, deepening of their sensibility and good taste and apprehension of aesthetic values.
Creative writing workshop – children acquire basic skills in creative writing. Although according to general opinion it is impossible to teach the art of writing, we can help to awake the creative potential and further develop it under the guidance of an experienced teacher with a thorough stylistic and linguistic knowledge. The goal of our classes is to provide inspiration and guidelines for those who feel talented for writing but do not know how to develop their talents.
Preparatory classes for entering secondary and higher education in Dramatic Arts – Thursday 15:45-17:15 (11-16yrs), 17:30-19:00 (Adults). For those with serious interest in dramatic arts and those who want to study at Secondary Dramatic Art Schools or Academies of Dramatic Art. Our objective is to reach a top level in mastering techniques and acquiring thorough knowledge in the field. We offer voice education, movement education, developing imagination, working on short dramatic pieces and working with selected texts.
Preparatory classes for entering secondary and higher education in Fine Arts
Monday 19:15-21:30, Tuesday 17:30-19:45For those with serious interest in fine arts and those who want to study at Secondary
Fine Art Schools or Academies of Fine Art. We offer drawing, painting, figural drawing and also fashion design – Wednesday
19:00-21:15.
